Teleworking: 6 tips to be more productive at home
The Covid-19 public health crisis has changed many parts of our daily routine: office visits, face-to-face meetings, and what it means to be a worker in the modern economy. With “social distancing” now the norm in many countries, the transition of employers to teleworking has been one of the responses of the business sector.
In this context, let’s give 6 tips not to lose productivity in teleworking!
But first, do you already know what teleworking is?
According to Article 165 of the Labour Code, teleworking is considered to be the provision of work carried out with legal subordination, usually outside the company and through the use of information and communication technologies. In other words, the most common example is that of an employee who, instead of performing his or her duties on company premises, does so at home, via his or her computer and mobile phone.
Using the right tools
The right working tool facilitates task organisation, communication and project management. It also allows the employer to monitor the tasks that each employee is performing. Keep productivity at bay!
Working in team online
Due to the new technologies, it is possible to maintain teamwork, not losing the interaction and mutual help with the rest of the team. Take advantage of the technology! Meet your colleagues by videoconference every day and keep in close contact with customers. This way, everyone will feel supported and motivated.
Respect working hours
In order not to lose productivity with remote work, working hours must be respected. It is important to set daily objectives and avoid distractions as much as possible, as it is essential to maintain your company’s results in this voluntary quarantine season. The goal must be to be able to focus on one task at a time. Keep the focus!
Choose a quiet place to work
If possible, choose a quiet place in your home, with good lighting. The important thing is to be a neutral space, which you don’t need to use on a daily basis for other tasks. Make sure, for example, that your work table and chair at home are comfortable. And, try to remove all kinds of distractions from this space, such as the TV and mobile phone.
Setting goals
Setting daily goals is essential to focus on your work. However, try to make these objectives realistic and preferably write them down in a digital or physical document. As soon as you have completed them, mark them.
Clothing change
Put on a different outfit you slept with and do what you would do on the days you go to work. You don’t need to choose your best outfit, the important thing is to avoid staying in your pyjamas. This helps the brain to realise that it’s time to go into work mode.
